Mexico Woman Charged With Forgery After Allegedly Passing Fake Bill at a Mexico Business
A Mexico, Missouri woman has been charged after being accused of passing a counterfeit $20 bill at a business.
The Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Polly Virginia Hoffman with a felony count of Forgery and a misdemeanor count of Stealing-Less Than $150 and No Prior Stealing Offense.
According to court documents, a Mexico business reported that someone has used a phony bill during a transaction.
According to court records when the employee gave the police officer the $20 bill, he said he saw copy on the bill, and it did not have the proper watermark.
The officer reportedly said the fake bill felt like normal paper, instead of currency.
Hoffman is set to appear in court on March 18th.
