Mexico Man Facing Kidnapping and Assault Charges After Alleged Incident in Mexico
A Mexico man was taken to the Audrain County Jail after an arrest where he is accused of kidnapping a woman.
According to the news release from Mexico Public Safety, on Saturday, April 12, just before 4am, Mexico Public Safety Department met with a 48-year-old Mexico woman.
The woman reported being at a Mexico convenience store around 1am, when she began speaking with a man she did not know. Mexico Public Safety reports the man later identified as 40-year-old Nathan M. Sommer, then forced the woman into his vehicle and drove around Mexico and Audrain County.
The woman reported that Sommer would not allow her to exit the vehicle and would threaten her physically.
When Sommer stopped his vehicle in the area of Plunkett Park, the woman managed to flea and hide in the area until Sommer left.
Mexico Public Safety located Sommer around 4:42 on Saturday morning in the area of Jackson and Olive Street.
He was arrested for 3rd Degree Kidnapping, 4th Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Sexual Misconduct.
There were no injuries reported from the incident.
