High Speed Chase Ends at Kingdom City

A high speed chase across I-70 yesterday as Boone County Sheriff’s Officers were pursuing a stolen truck and trailer eastbound just after 3pm.

According to a Facebook post, Multiple Callaway County deputies responded and successfully deployed spike strips near the Hatton exit, disabling a tire. Despite the tire being deflated, the driver continued to the Kingdom City exit (mile marker 148), where deputies were staged and ready.

The suspect, 39-year-old Eric Burns, ultimately pulled over at the Kingdom City exit and was taken into custody without incident by Boone County deputies.

Burns reportedly stole the truck from Green Meadows Carwash after “he was tired of walking.” When deputies tried to do a traffic stop, he sped away.

According to KMIZ, Burns was listed on the Boone County Jail online roster Monday night, but charges have yet to appear on Casenet. Jail records indicate that he was arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle, resisting arrest and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Burns also had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in Howard County court in February. In that case, was charged with two misdemeanors: Failing to register a vehicle and driving without a license.

A $250 bond was set for that warrant.
