Mizzou basketball announced that they will play an exhibition against Kansas State at Mizzou Arena on October 24th. K State is Mizzou’s second most frequent opponent in history, but it is their first matchup since 2018, and first at either campus since 2012. Kansas State holds a slight 121-116 all time series record.

It’s not unusual in this day in age that a major league baseball team has what’s known as a bullpen game. It’s where instead of using a regular starting pitcher, the team uses a collection of relievers to cobble through a game. Yesterday, Kansas City had a bullpen game. The Royals matched a major league record by using nine total pitchers in a ten-inning shutout. KC’s Salvador Perez drove in MJ Melendez with a single leading off the 10th inning, as the Royals beat the Atlanta Braves 1-0 yesterday.

The MLB trade deadline is less than 12 hours away and the the St. Louis Cardinals have been busy. They dealt All-Star closer Ryan Helsley to the New York Mets yesterday. In exchange, they received three Class A minor leaguers, the best of which is the Mets’ No. 6 prospect, shortstop Jesus Baez.

Also included were right-hander pitchers Frank Elissalt and Nate Dohm. Baseball America ranks Dohm as the Mets’ 25th-best prospect.

The Cardinals have also acquired minor league first basemen Blaze Jordan from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for left-handed pitcher Steven Matz.

Jordan, 22, was the Red Sox 3rd round (89th overall) selection in the 2020 MLB Draft and had just recently been promoted to Triple A Worcester.

This season, Jordan is batting .308 with 12 home runs and 62 RBI to add to his 22 doubles. The 6-foot, 220 lb., right-handed hitting Jordan was ranked as the No. 24 prospect in the Red Sox organization by Baseball America.

In St. Louis last night, Miles Mikolas gave up a two-run home run in the third inning, and that was all the scoring as the Miami Marlins beat the Cardinals 2-0.
