Fire at Construction Site of New Columbia School
A fire broke out at the construction site of Eagle Bluffs Elementary School, located on South Sinclair Road in Columbia, MO.
Fire crews arrived to find smoke and flames visible from the roof.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded and worked efficiently to bring the fire under control quickly, and containing most of the damage to the building’s HVAC system, preventing the fire from spreading to other critical areas of the structure.
According to Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark, the blaze appears to have originated from an HVAC unit on the roof.
No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
The school is slated to open for the 2026-27 academic year, and officials say construction had been ahead of schedule prior to the incident.
