Eldon Fire Destroys Bowling Alley
Entertainment can be hard to come by in small town America, and this weekend the people of Eldon found their entertainment offerings get a little tighter, after fire tore the Eldon Lanes last Thursday evening. The blaze destroyed the town’s only bowling alley.
The good news is the owners were out of town and had closed the lanes, which meant no one was in the structure at the time of the fire. The bad news is the lanes appear to be a total loss.
Firefighters found the structure with heavy smoke and flames pouring from the front of the building in the 400 block of West 19th Street.
According to the Eldon Firefighter Association, the Eldon Fire Department called for mutual aid and crews from Rocky Mount, Moreau, Lake Ozark and Tuscumbia Fire Protection Districts responded along with support from the Miller County Ambulance District and Eldon Public Works.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
