Van Far Passes Fire District Funding
Voters in Audrain County voted overwhelmingly yesterday in support of two propositions to set up the Van Far Fire Protection District.
Proposition 1 – Incorporation of the Van Far Fire Protection District
Yes – 327 votes (86.28%)
No – 52 votes (13.72%)
Proposition 3 – Was a tax levy to fund the Van Far Fire Protection District. It passed by close to an 80% vote. It puts a 30-cent tax levy for every $100 assessed on properties.
Yes – 303 (79.53%)
No – 78 (20.47%)
Proposition 2 – saw the election of a Board of Directors, with the place of each director determining the term each director was voted for.
Heather G. Williams – 315 votes (18.84%) was voted into a 6-year term, Dean Middleton – 302 votes (18.06%) and Marvin Yager – 297 votes (17.76%) were voted into 4-year terms, and Justin Yoke – 276 vots (16.51%) and Mark Woodward – 272 votes (16.27%) were given 2-year terms.
