Gray Sentenced for Fraud, Stealing
A Columbia man was sentenced in federal court Wednesday to more than five years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from clients.
24-year-old Calvin Lee Gray was sentenced to 65 months in federal prison and will have to repay the $357,582.
Gray admitted that from August of 2022 to August of 2024, he used his position at a financial firm to steal birthdates, social security numbers, and financial information.
He issued multiple credit cards and used the money to travel, buy goods and gamble. Gray pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, and fraud in connection with identification documents.
Gray’s mother, 52-year-old Joann Helms of De Soto, also pleaded guilty to fraud charges and will be sentenced on Thursday.
