Fulton Board of Education to Consider Tax Rate Hike

Fulton School Board set to meet in regular session tonight, with a hearing on proposed property tax rates on the agenda.

The school board will convene for a closed session at 6:30pm in the high school library tonight, before returning to a regular open session at 7pm.

According to the board packet, the school district’s operating levy could be reduced by 7/10ths of a cent, from $3.8862 to 3.8878 per $100 of assessed property value.

The board will also consider a resolution to authorize a $900,000 pre-payment of bonds maturing in 2030 and 2031. If passed, the payment, which would save the district $160,000 in interest, would be made on March 1, 2027.

Also on the docket is a change regarding employee resignations and renewal of the contract with the City of Fulton for a school resource officer.
