Two Hermann Police Officers Shot, One Dead

Two Hermann police officers are wounded and the suspect in their shooting is at large.

According to a Blue Alert from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the shooting happened at 9:19 last (Sunday) night at Casey’s in Hermann at 811 Market St.

The suspect is 35-year old Kenneth Lee Simpson, a white male 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 180 pounds with red hair and hazel eyes.

Simpson was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black long sleeve shirt, black or dark pants and tan boots.

He may or may not be in a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler with Missouri license RF5 A0P.

It is unknown if Simpson is in the Jeep or on foot and officials warn that he is armed with a firearm of unknown type.

Update as of 6:10 a.m.:

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both officers were transported to area hospitals.

Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith died of his injuries, the other officer is in serious but stable condition.
