KWWR Sports Report 3/17/23
Mizzou picks up wins yesterday in the NCAA Tournament and in the WNIT.
The men got the win in the first round in Sacramento, beating Utah State 76 – 65, their first win in the tournament since 2010.
They advance to the field of 32 to take on 15th-seeded Princeton who pulled off an upset over #2 Arizona 59 – 55.
The battle of the Missouri & Princeton Tigers is tomorrow (Saturday) evening at 5:10.
On the women’s side, the Tigers downed Illinois State at home last night, 61 – 51.
Mizzou will take on the winner of the Kansas – Western Kentucky game that has a 5:00 tipoff this evening.

In Class 4 high school basketball Final Four action yesterday, Father Tolton boys fell to Vashon 49 – 45 and will play for third place this morning at 10:00.
On the girls side, Vashon also took out Southern Boone 55 – 40 with the Eagles playing for third place today at Noon.

Jordan Binnington is suspended for two games following Wednesday night’s fracas at Enterprise Center.
He’ll sit out tonight’s game at Washington and Sunday’s home game against Winnipeg.
He’ll also forfeit $64,864.86 to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund per the collective bargaining agreement.
Tonight’s game in Washington gets underway at 6:00.

In spring training yesterday, the Cards were shut out by the Astros 3 – 0 while the Royals improve their record with a shutout of their own over the Athletics, 2 – 0.
