Fulton Man Sentenced to Over One Hundred Years In Prison for Child Sex Crimes
The following press release was sent out from the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
On Monday, December 8, 2023, Daniel Overstreet was sentenced to 160 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for abhorrent sexual crimes against three different children.
This sentence follows a three-day jury trial in November of 2023, where a Boone County jury, due to a change of venue motion made by the defense attorney, unanimously found Overstreet guilty of seven counts of Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree and one count of Attempted Sodomy in the First Degree.
The trial and sentencing were presided over by 13th Circuit Judge Kevin Crane.
The charges against Overstreet, filed by the Callaway County Prosecutor Attorney’s Office in July 2020, were the result of a comprehensive investigation by the Fulton Police Department and Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
The jury found that Overstreet molested three different children in his care between 2011 and 2016.
The gravity and reprehensibility of Overstreet’s actions were underscored during the trial and subsequent sentencing.
Ben Miller, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the local multi-disciplinary team in ensuring justice for the victims.
“I cannot praise our local multi-disciplinary team enough for helping ensure justice was served for the victims in this case.
It is the hard work of many highly skilled professionals from multiple agencies (Fulton Police Department, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri Children’s Division, The Rainbow House, and MU Healthcare) that makes prosecuting these extraordinarily difficult cases possible.”
The investigation was conducted by the Fulton Police Department and Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, and the case was tried by Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Miller and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brittany Duke.
