Shooting at Columbia McDonald’s Leaves One Dead
A 32-year old Columbia man was shot and killed at a Columbia McDonald’s yesterday. The mid-day shooting at the East Nifong Boulevard McDonald’s left Derek Gonzalez dead, and another person with serious injuries. The second victim is in stable condition. Both victims were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Columbia police were dispatched around 12:40pm to a shots fired call, and also to a report of an active shooter at the nearby Hy-Vee.
At this time, an individual detained by police at the scene has been released from custody without charges. The case remains open and active.
