Bond Memorialized
He was a hometown guy. The words of Mexico resident Dr. Joseph Corrado yesterday in an interview with KOMU-TV, reflecting on the life of former Governor Christopher “Kit” Bond.
Hundreds of people came from all across the country yesterday afternoon to honor Kit Bond at the Missouri State Capitol.
Bond, who died a week ago, had an illustrious political career that spanned four decades. He served as Missouri’s governor for two non-consecutive terms between 1973 and 1985 before representing Missouri as a U.S. Senator for 24 years.
Bond’s body will lie in state until noon today at the state capitol rotunda, with a celebration of Kit’s life at the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church on Thursday.
