Cell Phone Ban Coming to Schools This Fall

Amid a flurry of new bill signings, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed a bill Wednesday that clamps down on the use of cell phones and other electronic devices during the school day.

Senate Bill 68 was requires all school districts and charter schools to implement a written policy banning students from using or displaying cellphones and other electronic devices throughout the school day. The bill says this includes, at minimum, during class, meals, breaks and study hall.

Disciplinary procedures for violations are up to the individual school districts to set. The mandate begins in the 2025-26 school year.
