Double Fatality in Cole County Accident Early Saturday
Two Jefferson City women died early Saturday morning in a single vehicle accident in rural Cole County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:20am on Route C west of Zion Road. Troopers said a 2008 Ford Focus was heading westbound when it veered off the left side of the roadway, hit a tree and caught fire.
Both the driver, a 37-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 38-year-old woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Cole County Medical Examiner.
The vehicle was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene.
