32-year-old Leela James was indicted by a Callaway County grand jury this week, charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child after her 3-year-old daughter died in a crash in Holts Summit in mid February of this year.
Trinity Durham was killed after the 1998 Ford Explorer she was in slid off an icy U.S. 54 and overturned. According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, no one in the vehicle was secured in a seatbelt and Trinity was found pinned beneath the vehicle.
While James was not driving, the indictment alleges that she allowed her child to be transported in a vehicle without proper restraint.
James was booked into the Callaway County Jail Thursday afternoon, with bond yet to be set.
