State and local officials in Pike County celebrated a ribbon-cutting and open house last Thursday of the new Pike County 911 emergency call center in Bowling Green. The building was built to withstand an EF-5 tornado, ensuring that emergency communications would not be interrupted.

Voters approved a tax measure to support the 9-1-1- services in 2018. The facility is anticipated to be fully operational during the first week of October.
