Sunday was December 7th. It marked the 84th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The event that thrust the U.S. into the middle of World War II.
The United States Exercise Tiger Foundation held its 18th annual recognition ceremony at the Boone County Courthouse to honor those who served during the attack. The ceremony began at 11:53 a.m. to signify the time that USS St. Louis, a combat ship, broke out of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
“Those Missouri boys became men 84 years ago today,” USTF National Director, Susan Haines, said in a news release. “The USTF will never forget their sacrifice.”
Several local and state officials spoke at the ceremony, including Missouri State Representative John Martin.
