The U.S. Senate has unanimously approved a bill from Missouri Senator Josh Hawley to designate America’s National Churchill Museum in Fulton as a National Historic Landmark.
The museum stands on the Westminster College campus, where Winston Churchill delivered his famous 1946 “Iron Curtain” speech alongside President Harry S. Truman a moment many consider the start of the Cold War.
Built inside a 17th-century London church relocated to Missouri in the 1960s, the museum honors Churchill’s legacy and Missouri’s role in world history.
The legislation now directs the Interior Department to finalize the landmark designation and begin a National Park Service study on potential future designations for the site.
