Amazon Data Center deal unanimousaly approved

A packed hearing in a Montgomery County courtroom had standing room only attendance. Support for the project was split as they heard the plan to give Amazon Chapter 100 bonds. The proposal got unanimous approval today (Thursday) from the Montgomery County Commission.

It will give tax incentives to Amazon for the new data center that could reach $1 billion, if the company fully constructs its 17-building data center campus.

Amazon could see a minimum of about $244 million in personal property tax breaks, and a maximum of $982 million through the Chapter 100 bonds’ 25-year life.

This doesn’t include tax breaks for real estate.

According to ABC 17 News, Amazon expects that if they upgrade to the plan for a 17-building campus, water usage would run about 50 million gallons a year.
