Cooper County traffic stop nets drug arrest

An early Tuesday morning traffic stop in Cooper County has netted the arrest of two Cooper County women.

At 12:51 a.m., Boonville police officers pulled over a vehicle that did not have a license plate lamp light. The driver, 57-year-old Mary M.  Hein of Boonville, and passenger, 51-year-old Shawna D. Zimmerman of Bunceton, both appeared to be unusually nervous.

Officers asked and received consent to search Hein’s vehicle.

Inside, the found a black satchel that officers discovered a debit card, a Ziplock bag with a crystal substance, and a pink straw with white crystal residue.   The white residue tested positive for methamphetamine.

Zimmerman told officers that she also had methamphetamine inside her cigarette pack.

Both women were booked into Cooper County Jail and each were being held on a $10,000 bond.
