Columbia’s own Stan Kroenke completed a massive land deal in New Mexico last month, and with it gained the title as America’s biggest landowner, according to a report released this earlier week.
Kroenke bought nearly 1 million acres of New Mexico ranch land, the Singleton Ranches, one of the nation’s largest cattle- and horse-breeding operations from the industrial conglomerate Teledyne.
According to the Land Report, the transaction pushed Kroenke’s holdings to 2.7 million acres of U.S. land — nearly as much land as is in all of Connecticut.
Kroenke, the billionaire owner of the NFL’s Rams — now sits atop the annual “Top 100 Landowner List” released Tuesday by the magazine.
