Missouri Drought Conditions Dry Up Corn and Cause Hay Shortage
Even with rain overnight and with more predicted today (Monday) parts of Missouri have been so dry that corn crops are suffering and hay for livestock is in short supply.
Experts are saying that water is becoming increasingly scarce.
Missouri received a below-average rainfall since winter.
The U.S. Drought Monitor map is showing nearly all of the state is going through drought.
The northwestern part of the state is facing the most dire classification of exceptional conditions.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is listing soil moisture as short to very short in four fifths of the state.
The weather forecast is offering some hope as Missouri is predicted to get almost an inch of rain over the next week.
