Community R-VI Lady Trojans Basketball Handles New Franklin For a Second Straight Weekend

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans basketball team defeated New Franklin 53-32 on Friday night. It was a rematch from the last weekend where the Lady Trojans beat New Franklin 51-33 to claim their 4th consecutive New Franklin Tournament championship.

Community R-VI Lady Trojans head coach Bob Curtis reports “Very happy with 4 girls in double figures Friday night. We have really started to come together offensively as we put up 53 against an opponent who likes to have long possessions and make you guard for half a minute hoping you’ll give up a high percentage shot. We had to be methodical, patient, and take quality shots and we did that. Sarah had a great game pouring in 17 driving to the hole and Shelby Clark dropped three 3 pointers to put the game away in the third quarter pushing it up to around 20. She shot the ball really well for us in a big CAC matchup. This team has become very stingy defensively holding opponents under 30 most nights. Their half court man is pretty good and we rebound well with a big line-up which is needed against a team like New Franklin who has a lot of size. Next opponent Paris for Homecoming next Friday night.”
