Webber Family of Pharmacies Third Annual Excellence in Teaching Awards
For third consecutive year the Webber Pharmacy and Commerce Bank surprised five teachers in the Mexico School District with two thousand dollar checks.
The awards were started in 2020 by the Webber Pharmacy to honor the late Laurann Webber and the money was given to recognize the importance of teaching excellence in Mexico Public Schools.
The awards were handed out this morning by Larry Webber and Brenan Webber owners of Webber Pharmacy and Gina Raines president of the Commerce Bank in Mexico.
This year’s recipients are Mckenzie Mudd who teaches 8th grade Language Arts at the Mexico Middle School and is an assistant coach for the Mexico Lady Bulldogs High School basketball team.
Mckenzie has been in the district for nine years.
Lorie Meyer teaches 2nd grade at Eugene Field.
There were two winners from Hawthorne Elementary.
Kim Costley who is her 18th year with the district and teaches 1st through 5th grade P.E., is the head coach of the Mexico High School Girls tennis team and is an assistant coach for the Mexico Lady Bulldogs high school basketball team.
Jennifer Pascoe is the librarian at Hawthorne.
She has been teaching in the district for 24 years.
Jennifer Silver was the fifth teacher in the district to receive a two thousand dollar check.
Silver has been teaching in the district for 22 years.
She teaches English Language Arts, DC American Lit, and DC Composition English III.
The Webber Family of Pharmacies honored the teachers with $1,000 and the Commerce Bank in Mexico matched the $1,000.
