Kundarrius Taylor Pleads Self-Defense in Murder of Torrance Evans

Kundarrius Taylor, charged with the first-degree murder of Torrance Evans in Fayette last week, to be held without bond despite his claim of self-defense.

His lawyer cited Missouri stand your ground laws, including the castle doctrine, stating that a person has a right to defend themselves if they believe their life is in danger and the right to use deadly force to protect one’s home.

A peer reviewed study by a University of Oxford researcher, published in the Journal of American Medical Association found that stand your ground laws are linked to increased homicide rates of 10-11%, amounting to hundreds of additional deaths per year.
