FedEx Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel and Shuts Down I-70 for Three Hours

Interstate 70 eastbound was closed for about 3 hours yesterday afternoon, just west of the Rocheport bridge.

According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of a FedEx semi fell asleep, traveled off the side of the road, ran up and down a rock embankment, then returned to the interstate. The truck then exited into the median and struck the cables.

The driver was taken by ambulance to University Hospital for minor injuries.
