KWWR Sports Report 1/19/23
A late run propels Mizzou past #25 Arkansas last night at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers outscored Arkansas 22 – 9 in the last five minutes of the game after Arkansas led 35 – 34 at the end of the first half, a half that saw a dozen lead changes in the final seven minutes.
The score was tied at 67 with 2:28 left in the game before Mizzou pulled out ahead, winning 79 – 76.
With the win, Mizzou improves to 14 – 4 and 3 – 3 in SEC play.
The Tigers stay home to take on their second ranked opponent this week as they host #4 Alabama on Saturday, tipoff set for 5:00.
The 80th Annual Tony Lenzini Basketball Tournament continued last night in Palmyra with some of the championship bracket decided.
On the girls side, Palmyra knocked out Monroe City 63 – 54 to advance to the championship game while Highland handled Mark Twain 55 – 14 to head to the consolation game.
On the boys side, Mark Twain turned the tables on Highland, winning 63 – 45 to move on to the consolation game.
The Panthers of Palmyra beat Canton to advance to the championship, 53 – 34.
Action continues tonight.
On the girls side, Canton and Hannibal will vie for a chance to play Palmyra for the championship while Van-Far and Clark County battle for the chance to meet Highland in the consolation game.
In boys action, Monroe City and Van-Far will battle for the right to face off against Palmyra in the championship game while either Hannibal or Clark County will face Mark Twain in the consolation game.

The Blues are in action tonight at home, hosting the Nashville Predators at 7:00.

A trophy is back in the hands of its rightful owner after a shoplifting arrest in Lee’s Summit on January 6th.
Officers detained a shoplifter and searched their vehicle that had been stolen from Kansas City and found additional stolen items, including a large silver trophy according to the Lee’s Summit Police Facebook page.
The trophy had been presented to Chiefs great Len Dawson in 1976 and has now been returned to Dawson’s widow Linda who said the trophy was probably stolen in the early 1980s.
