Columbia Cosmopolitan Diabetes Fair- Columbia

The Columbia Cosmopolitan Clubs-Breakfast, Luncheon, and Show Me–are sponsoring their second annual Columbia Cosmopolitan Diabetes Fair will be held on Saturday, November 1, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at Sigmund Cosmo Center at 1715 Burlington St. in Columbia. FREE to attend, Door Prizes, over 25 vendors. Come and learn! Be alert and recognize Diabetes, and prevent it with a healthy lifestyle on a regular basis. Attendees will have the opportunity to create new contacts and relationships with those in our community involved with diabetes care, obtain current information on living with diabetes today, and learn about leading-edge science, research, and new technologies — with the goal of improving the quality of life for those with diabetes.

Free A1c and blood pressure testing will be provided by Boone Health.  There will be information booths hosted by many healthcare providers such as the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Clinic, the Missouri Dept of Health and Senior Services, Camp Hickory Hill, and many more.  There will also be representatives for manufacturers of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems like Freestyle LibreDexcom, and Medtronic.

Speakers include:

Dr. Randy Tobler, MD, and his wife Heliene Tobler, Ph D. both of Body of Health, Direct Primary Care, will both give presentations.  Randy will talk about diabetes care, and Heliene will talk about the importance of diabetic nutrition.

 Dr. Wayne Davis, MDRetina Associates, who will talk about eye care; and

 Jackie Faber, RN, CNS, CFCN owner and nurse, Columbia Foot Care will do a presentation on diabetic foot care.

Cosmopolitan International is a non-profit organization that began in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1918 and has clubs in the United States and Canada.  Since 1978 they have made their campaign to fight diabetes. Their current theme is: “Cosmos for a Cure–The Club that Fights Diabetes.”  November is International Diabetes Awareness Month.
