Cole County Sheriff’s deputies conducted compliance checks on 149 registered sex offenders across Jefferson City and Cole County during Halloween night.
According to a Thursday press release, 11 offenders were found noncompliant. Officials say warrant applications will be submitted to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
Under Missouri law, registered sex offenders are prohibited from any Halloween-related contact with children. They must remain inside their homes between 5 and 10:30 p.m. unless for work or medical emergencies, and all outside lights must be turned off during that time.
