Alcohol a contributing factor in why a Fulton woman was put behind bars this past weekend. Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence for a reported domestic disturbance in Fulton Saturday night at 11:42 p.m.
Deputies arrived on the scene, where the victim claimed that Sarah Elizabeth Armistead had threatened to kill them.
They told law enforcement Armistead had been at the Post Office Bar and Grill and came home intoxicated around 11 p.m.
Court documents show that as she was entering her home, her phone had fallen underneath the porch, and she asked the victim to help retrieve it. Both tried to reach it, but couldn’t and the victim told Armistead to go to sleep instead. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.
According to a probable cause statement, Armistead started arguing with the victim and grabbed a knife. The victim then retreated to a bedroom inside the home, to which Armistead followed and began stabbing their door. Armistead busted through the door, but the victim had escaped and fled the house.
Officials reported visible punctures, scratches and chips in the bedroom door, as well as along the frame, which they believe was from the woman’s attempt to pry it open with a knife.
Armistead was arrested and booked into the Callaway County Jail, where she struck a deputy in the torso.
Armistead was charged with First-Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Creating substantial Risk, Fourth-Degree Domestic Assault and Fourth-Degree Assault of a Special Victim.
She was booked into the Callaway County Jail, but bonded out of a $15,000 bond.
