
Jefferson City Fire Crews called out early this morning of ra structure fire. The call came in at 12:27 a.m. in the 300 block of Clay St. Fire personnel arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from an outbuilding located on the back of a residential lot. Fire crews extinguished the fire on the involved building as well as an adjacent building.
The primary building and contents were a total loss.
The fire was determined to be accidental in nature with the cause and origin beginning at an unattended burn barrel. The Jefferson City Fire Department reminds citizens to follow the City Burn Ordinance which states all fires, which shall consist only of yard waste, to be attended and completely extinguished by sunset.
