No surprise that the July 4th holiday weekend is one of the busiest of the year on Missouri’s roadways. AAA estimates Missouri could see 1.2 million people making a 50-mile or more road trip during their Fourth of July weekend.

Add in a large amount of construction on major thoroughfares, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding travelers to give themselves enough time to get to their destination and remember the basics of travel safety.

Leave early, phone down, seatbelt on and give yourself plenty of room to allow for the unkown.

Yesterday and Sunday are expected to be the busiest travel days.
