C.M.H.S. announces Barksgiving

Central Missouri pets are getting a chance to spend Thanksgiving in a real home this year.

The Central Missouri Humane Society is launching “Barksgiving,” a short-term foster program aimed at getting every adoptable dog and cat into a foster home for the holiday.

Associate Director Michelle Casey says the shelter is nearly full after taking in several dogs from a recent animal control impoundment case, and only a few kennels are still open.

She says even a brief break in a home environment can make a big difference for shelter pets.

The Humane Society will provide all supplies for foster families, including food, bowls and crates.

Interested families can sign up online, then pick up their foster pet and supplies on November 25th or 26th.
