The government shutdown continues to affect thousands in the listening area, and with WIC and SNAP benefits likely to end on November 1, Boone County and the City of Columbia are answering the call to help out families in need.
The Boone County Commission is set to approve ARPA funds to send $50,000 to the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. The city of Columbia has agreed to match the Commission with an additional $50,000.
The $100,000 commitment will allow the Food Bank to do a bulk purchase of food to help in stocking up the Food Bank Marketplace.
