A 17-year-old male juvenile has been arrested by Columbia police, for his involvement in a shots fired incident at Shoppes at Stadium on Saturday night.
The suspect has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree property damage, vehicle hijacking, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action, according to a Sunday morning news release from the Columbia Police Department.
Shots were reportedly fired around 7 p.m. Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Police believe the suspect then carjacked someone in the parking lot before fleeing the scene.
About an hour later, the Missouri State Highway Patrol spotted the suspect driving a gray Nissan Altima on Southbound U.S. 65 in Pettis County.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop at 8:16 p.m., and the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit, which abruptly ended when the suspect crashed on Route V near Bahner Road.
He was taken into custody around 8:19 p.m.
The Columbia Police Department is still actively investigating.
