A domestic violence case rocks a Columbia neighborhood after a Sunday night shooting at The Greens Apartment Complex.

Columbia Police say 23-year-old James Lamont Caldwell of Fulton opened fire, injuring three people; one victim, Brianna Hawkins, 21, later died at a hospital.

Caldwell is in Boone County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and two counts of first-degree assault.

Police indicate Caldwell used a sharp weapon in addition to a gun, but reportedly would not confirm a domestic relationship with Hawkins.

Authorities say there is no ongoing danger to the public and Caldwell acted alone.

The investigation continues as detectives seek doorbell and other video footage from neighbors.
