
A Columbia man has been charged with child enticement after falling for an undercover decoy operation.
Police conducted an online sting on December 27, posing as a 16-year-old on an adult platform.
On December 29, 37-year-old Travis Raney Moreland messaged the decoy, acknowledging the age and expressing interest in sexual acts.
He proposed meeting in public, at a Columbia gas station, and arrived in a dark blue Dodge Caravan, He was arrested at the scene.
During a post-Miranda interview, Moreland admitted he knew the decoy was underage but claimed he thought it might be a setup.
He’s jailed in Boone County without bond, charged with Enticement or Attempted Enticement of a Child.
