A Columbia man charged in a deadly 2023 shooting is back in court today.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Damarkus Williams faces first-degree murder and weapons charges in the killing of Deshon Houston on Dove Drive.

Investigators say Houston was shot by gunmen in two vehicles linked to Williams and another suspect, Ja’shaun Barney.

Williams will appear before Judge Joshua Devine at the Boone County Courthouse at 10:30 this morning.

His four day jury trial begins today.

Seven men were charged in the case six have pleaded guilty to reduced counts, while Williams and Barney have yet to enter pleas.
