City officials in Columbia, say downtown on-street parking rates will rise to $1 per hour starting January 5, 2026.

The update, approved by the City Council as part of the FY2026 budget, will see meters reprogrammed over the next one to two weeks to establish a unified $1 hourly rate for both downtown and the campus area south of Elm Street.

The change coincides with Missouri’s winter break to minimize disruption and allow new decals and signage.

ParkMobile users will pay the same $1 rate as coin users, while city garage rates stay at 50 cents per hour with the first hour free.

Officials cite rising costs and deficits in 2024 and 2025 as the drivers behind the first on-street rate adjustment since 2013.
