Columbia Woman Sentenced for 2023 Storage Facility Arson

A Columbia woman has pleaded guilty in connection with a 2023 arson at a local self-storage facility.

46-year-old Dionne Denise Houston admitted to knowingly exploding or burning after a fire broke out at the I-70 Mini Storage on Nebraska Avenue in December 2023.

The blaze caused about $100,000 in damage and took firefighters around 30 minutes to bring under control.

Court records show Houston was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, with credit for time served.

Investigators say security footage showed her entering and leaving the unit several times that night and calmly walking away as the building burned.
