Dog attack kills Bourbon woman

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating what appears to be a fatal dog attack in the central Missouri town of Bourbon.

The Bourbon Police Department requested the MSHP’s Division of Drug and Crime Control investigate the death, which occurred at a residence in Bourbon about 10:30pm Saturday night.

Dead is 22-year-old Angel M. Rawlings, of Bourbon. The Bourbon PD responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Hickory Street, after a report of a woman who had been possibly attacked by canines inside the residence.

Upon arrival, first responders located a female inside the residence along with two canines. First responders attempted to provide medical care; however, the female died at the scene.

DDCC investigators responded to the scene and the preliminary investigation revealed the victim had wounds consistent with canine bites. The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy has been scheduled through the Crawford County Coroner’s Office.

The canines were removed from the residence by Cuba Animal Control and are being held at the Cuba Animal Shelter.
