Beginning at 5 p.m. tonight, Capital Paving, will begin overnight mill and overlay pavement maintenance on various downtown and campus-area Columbia streets.
Mill and overlay involves grinding off the top layer of old pavement and applying a fresh layer of asphalt. Once the overlay is complete, crews will return to apply fresh striping.
Temporary street closures will be required during work hours. This overnight work is expected to last approximately three weeks, followed by a second phase on a different area of downtown. Vehicles parked in signed areas during working hours (5 p.m. to 7 a.m.) may be ticketed or towed.
