A house fire on North Willowbrook Drive Monday was ruled accidental by Columbia Fire Department officials.

Fire crews arrived just before 8 a.m., reporting heavy smoke and flames ripping from the rear of a single-story duplex.

They found fire in the basement and back of the home, and brought it under control 15 minutes after arrival.

Two residents were evaluated on scene and declined further medical care.

One cat died,

Fire marshals say the fire started in a clothes dryer.
