Columbia police responded to a stabbing early this morning. At approximately 12:30 a.m. a call came on for a physical disturbance in the 4700 block of Pierre Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were non-life-threatening.
60-year-old Lawrence Johnson of Columbia was arrested. He was charged with first-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, but not before he barricaded himself in to a house on Pierre Street and refused to exit the residence for nearly three and a half hours.
During the arrest, Johnson spit into the face of a Columbia Police officer and earned himself an added charge of fourth-degree assault special victim and felony resisting arrest.
