A record attendance at this years Fire Fighters Memorial Foundation of Missouri services in Kingdom City over the weekend. Around 600 people turned out to take in the Sunday morning affair, which honored 10 of the 400 fire service members who died since the 19th century.
Three area heroes were honored including:
Larry E. Harlan from Jonesburg-High Hill Fire Protection District.
Matthew Lawrence Tobben from Boone County Fire Protection District.
Donald Raymond Kammerich from Pilot Grove Area Protection District.
While the service isn’t new, this marked the 23rd year, it was the first time that it coincided with the new decoration from Gov. Mike Kehoe who proclaimed Oct. 5 as Fire Service Memorial Day in Missouri.
