Grant “The Hammer” Van Horn Will Wrestle For University of Central Missouri

Grant Van Horn put pen to paper and will continue his wrestling career at the University of Central Missouri.

A signing ceremony was held at the Mexico High School Sports Complex on Monday, Apr. 20, 2025.

Grant plans to study Occupational Safety Management while at UCM, drawn to the university for its strong programs across multiple fields.

Grant shared that he will miss his close friends at MHS.

He offered this advice to younger students dreaming of competing at the next level, “Talent might get you noticed, but work ethic keeps you in the game. Be the one who stays late, shows up early, and puts in the extra reps.”

During his illustrious wrestling career at the Mexico High School Mexico High School, Grant Van Horn was crowned a State Champion at Mizzou Arena on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2025.

With the win Van Horn is now tied for the school record with victories at 178.

Van Horn was also named Boys Class 2 District Wrestler of the Year in the 175 weight class.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2025.

Van Horn went 52-1 overall this year

Grant is the son of Shannon and Tina Van Horn.
