The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B and the Marion County Sheriff’s department are investigating a fatal incident of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Accident report, on Tuesday night around 9:30pm, law enforcement was called to Ayerco Gas Station, just off of Route MM west of Hannibal. A 21-year-old out-of-state man was walking in the parking lot, when an unidentified vehicle hit the man.
According to the report the vehicle stopped, backed up and then sped off.
According to law enforcement, the pedestrian (not yet identified) was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The Marion County Sheriff’s department said they are investigating the incident and will have more information as it becomes available.
