The Holts Summit Food Pantry had to temporarily close earlier this week due to a food shortage. The pantry, located at Union Hill Baptist Church, closed Tuesday due to a shortage of meat, dry goods, and a low bread supply.
An increasing number of families needing help, and a decreasing amount of food from the Central and Northern Missouri Food Bank is making for tough times.
The pantry said it’s the did 60 new families last month alone. It’s pallet distribution from the Food bank, once 12 to 14 pallets of food per week, has dropped 8 to 10 pallets. Donations from people in the community help to make up the difference.
The pantry reopened for it’s Thursday dispersal. The Holts Summit Food Pantry accepts donations during its operating hours on Tuesdays 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
